Why Many Beginner Freelance Couriers Fail!
Article By: Andre

s
a freelance courier or owner driver you've decided to
work for yourself and make lots of money from
courier jobs. You might
even be an existing freelance courier or owner driver
but the only problem, things are not going the way you
planned...
I've decided to share with you in this article what I
have learned from many clients that contact me with the
same question: ' How can I earn more with my courier
service?'
While it is
most certainly possible to earn a very good living in
excess of £750+ per week from courier jobs, you need to
know what to do and how to do it to accomplish that
result. Extensive knowledge about any field will you
instantly give you a competitive edge in the market
place.
In this
article my aim is to share with you workable and
realistic objectives to make your freelance couriers
business a success. But to get back to the number one
reason so many beginner and sometimes existing freelance
couriers fail is as a result of the fact that they
neglect the importance of return journeys.
The
general feel is once you've done a job, you're
done....wrong! If you deliver a parcel from say London
to Nottingham, just have a look at the amount of courier
companies in Nottingham
before you go there and give at least 15 companies a
call to let them know you'll be coming back to London
empty and that you can offer them a discounted (half
rate) price if they need anything delivering back to
London.
MOST owner drivers NEVER do this one thing because it
involves effort and a bit of time. The other reason is
fear of rejection. Whether you realise this consciously
or not it is the truth and it is completely natural. The
main thing is you have to overcome this fear and go for
it anyway. Top sales people that have to do cold calling
also have this fear but they over come by rehearsing
what and how they are going to present the offer to the
company.
You'll be amazed what a "God Send" your call will be to
some companies and company bosses who now have an
opportunity to put MORE money in there pockets because
you are offering to do their courier jobs at half
rate what they had to pay full rate for other wise.
The extra 20 minutes you take to call around to arrange
return journeys will greatly improve your income since
you are now getting paid for coming back home after a
delivery. If you did on delivery from London to
Nottingham and charged £150,00 for the drop, a return
journey would add an additional £75 to that netting you
£225.00 for the day.
You would only have to do 3 runs like that to touch
£700+ per week. Working a six day week suddenly makes
earning £750+ more realistic since you're putting more
effort and time in. You probably hear the saying
”there's no free lunch" and in any business the same
holds true. Hard work and persistence will pay off. Like
a friend of mine use to say: "You gotta keep on keeping
on!"
Because you work for yourself, you must be disciplined
and spend At least 60% of your time marketing your
service and business and the number one way of marketing
your service is to arrange or attempt real hard to
arrange return journeys from EACH delivery.
This will make earning £850+ a reality for you like many
of my clients who bought our comprehensive manual have
found out. This is just one way of creating revenue for
your business. In an upcoming article I will explain how
to use classified ads to pull extra sales from private
companies in your area. All the best and remember the
choices you make today will influence your future
tomorrow!
