Why Professionalism Can Get Your More Driving And
Courier Jobs!
Article By: Andre

n one of my
previous articles we talked about time management I
briefly mentioned some of the elements larger companies
use to create a professional and branded image in the
minds of their customers.
In this article I want to discuss this in much greater
detail because I believe this is one of the reasons high
earning freelance couriers get courier jobs
faster.
You’ve heard the expression: “First impressions count”
but I want to take that further and actually explain to
you what I have personally done to attract high paying
courier jobs contracts from a variety of customers.
But why is a professional image so important?
Here’s why – It’s been
proved that people prefer to do business with people
that looks successful and appear professional. For
example if you have watched any of the shows where
people with business ideas try and pitch those ideas to
the dragon investors – one of the comments made by the
dragons was the appearance of certain individuals and
what they wore to the occasion.
Long story short, the way you present yourself is a big
deal and that says a whole lot about the way you conduct
your business. If you look casual while pitching for
business at a million pound company, your business will
also appear less important and casual in the minds of
potential customers.
The moment you put on a suite and
present your business in a professional looking outfit,
not only will you be taken more seriously, your business
will also appear more credible and professional in the
minds of customers.
I’m not saying do your driving jobs in a suite – I’m
saying doing your driving recruits in a suite. When you
pitch for work being dressed for success will have an
enormous payoff.
Your attitude towards your business will translate
through the way you present yourself.
The next area you want to look at is your company
stationary.
Again, the same applies in this area as well. Sending
our a letter on cheap plain white Tesco paper simply
won’t measure up to someone that took the time to print
the same letter on high quality, slightly coloured and
texture paper.
It just looks and feels more professional. What I’m
telling you today is the exact same things I have
personally used to gain high income driving jobs from
clients in both the courier and private company sector,
so I know this works from personal experience.
You letter of introductory needs to look and feel so
expensive, your potential clients should have a hard
time throwing it away. All your letters should be
printed on this type of paper when approaching companies
for work and you want to make sure your company name and
address is at the top of the letter with the same
details repeated in small print and centred across the
length of the page at the bottom of the page.
Be sure to sign all your letters by hand as this ads a
personal touch to your communication.
The same goes for your business card. You can design a
very expensive looking business card on any regular home
computer now-a-days. By keeping the information on the
business card simple, it will look sophisticated and
professional.
I have laminated my business cards, but it’s is entirely
up to you, I’m telling you what I have done, and I had
great responses and compliments from clients as a result
of taking the time to properly prepare my proposal to
potential clients.
Next I want to talk about a uniform or company outfit or
T-Shirt you might want to consider in your day-to-day
activities for clients. I briefly touched this point in
a recent podcast I did, but I want to elaborate a little
more on why think this is important.
Again, I have personally used this approach myself so it
is entirely up to you what route you want to follow. But
basically, my company had company T-Shirts which my
drivers wore while doing jobs for our clients. This
created a sense of reliability in my customers minds
because they felt they were doing business with a real
company and that the job will get done reliably and on
time every time.
It did not seem or appear to be a
one man operation with drivers dressed casually looking
completely unprofessional in appearance. This is the
reason companies like City Link, Parcel Force, UPS, DHL
to name just a few, insists their staff wear company
uniform.
These large courier companies want to instil confidence,
professionalism, reliability, uniformity and branding in
the minds of their customers. No matter if you are the
only person in your organization, you have to establish
the same level of confidence and reliability as a result
of your appearance with your customers.
In a different article I will be talking about
outsourcing work as your business grows, and once you
have plenty of work to outsource you want to make sure
your outsourcers carry on this universal branding and
company image you have worked hard to establish in the
minds of your customers.
I want to impress upon you to look at your business not
just as a hobby that makes you money, but a real
business that have the potential to generate a high
income for you and your family if you handle it
correctly.
Decide now that you are going to exude a professional
image to your potential customers and they’ll be proud
to be associated with your company.
I can promise you from personally
experience these things will work for you but you must
not take it lightly or overlook this crucial point.
Looking at your business as a professional establishment
will also give you that added effort to market it as
such. I hope these points make sense to you.
All the best and to your continued success.
